Zoe writes after day 1 (Master class):
Before coming to the ssession, I had a cery clear vision of Kuan Yin and a lotus flower. Her Message was that wisdom is attained by quit open waiting, not grasping - a perfect introduction tothe Karuna energy.
Sandra's teaching, as always, was very clear - we went through each of the 1st four symbols and I could clearly feel the energy of each. Much stronger than the Usui symbols and I coudl feel each one straight away. When practising on Sandra, I was aware of a much greater energy field around myself and her, and also felt the power of the symbols even across the room. In the attunement, I was intensely aware of the presence of ascended masters - particularly Kuan Yin, Jesus, Mary, Archangel Michael and Gabriel - and other guides there to help. I was also aware of part of me moving into a completely different dimension. There have been intense shifts of old energy stuff over the last 24 hours and more is coming up all the time. I feel that I can clear a lot of past life trauma and contracts with the help of Karuna.There it is a new sense of the compassion of this energy. Sandra showed me a grounding exercise using the Rama symbol which was veyr powerful for me, I hadn't realised how much of my essence was outside my body until this exercise which realigned my chakras so that I could feel the healing earth energy flowign up through my body and grounding me. I felt much clearer and more focused at the end of this meditation.

This has been an incredible course - very very powerful, and I am SO glad I have done it. I feel hugely helped along the ascension path and feel that I can grow as a healer in every way with Karuna Reiki® to help. Zoe

It was an excellent, amazing experience with my teacher Sandra. She was patient with me a lot, loving person, helpful, so sweet. Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as "compassionate action". When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one. As we help others and aid them in their healing process, all beings benefit. Because of the oneness of all beings, it is understood that Karuna is not only extended to others out of love, but also because it is an entirely logical thing to do. In the same way that you would want to heal your own wounds, you would also want the wounds of others to heal. It is also stated in the Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by parjna or wisdom in order to have the right effect.

Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who are working to end suffering on Earth. They continually send an unlimited amount of healing energy and guidance to us, but not all are receptive to it. As you develop Karuna in yourself, not only are you helping others, but you also become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. Thus your healing is quickened.

Karuna Reiki® opens you to work more closely with all enlightened beings. This includes those enlightened ones who are physically present as well as those in spirit.

Origin of the Karuna System of Reiki
The Karuna system of Reiki was developed by William L. Rand. The symbols were channeled by several Reiki masters, including Marcy Miller, Kellie-Ray Marine, Pat Coutney, Catherine Mills Bellamont, and Maria Abraham. William used the symbols and found them to have value, but felt that they had greater potential than had been previously accessed. He meditated on them and was guided to develop the attunement process and to call the new system Karuna Reiki®. Some of the symbols used in Karuna Reiki® are used in other systems, but they do not have the same effectiveness or healing energies as in the Karuna system. Karuna Reiki® energy is different than

Usui Reiki. The energy has a more definite feeling to it and works on all the energy bodies at the same time. Students report a feeling that the energy surrounds them and the client instead of simply flowing thought them. It also has a grounding effect.

Those who receive the attunements often report experiences with their guides, angels, and higher self and feel the healing presence of other enlightened beings.

Karuna Reiki® Practitioner I
Four new symbols are taught that have a range of specific uses such as (in this website the symbols are not named or drawn).:

Uses for Symbol 1: is a good symbol to use at the beginning of a treatment as it prepares the client to receive deep healing. It also reduces or eliminates the pain associated with emotional healing by creating a kind of spiritual anesthetic effect. It works on hidden issues that have become imbedded in the cells of our bodies (memory of trauma, negative feelings and ideas that we brought with us from other lives). Symbol1 can be combined with the Usui distant symbol to send powerful healing energy, child abuse (unable to deal with consciously and therefore buried feelings).Call upon Archangel Gabriel and ask him to take the karma of the issue and heal if for you. Ask also that if there is a lesson or understanding that is necessary for you to have in order for the healing to take place that it be made known to you. Symbol 1 prepares the client to receive the deep healing available from Symbol 2

Uses for Symbol 2: works in many ways like Symbol1, but on a much deeper and more powerful level. It breaks up negative patterns in the unconscious mind which we use to insulate ourselves from the truth. This helps to shatter delusion and denial, while helping heal the shadow self. It helps us accept that imperfect part of ourself so we can bring it into our conscious mind, love it and heal it (often in sacral chakra), heals sexual and physical abuse, the only reason we are psychically attacked is because we are creating it. It can help us release the part of ourself that is creating the psychic attack, heal it and release it to the Higher Power. It can activate a laser-like beam of healing light to heal tumors and cysts and many other imbalances. When used with the psychic surgery technique it takes on the energy of a spiritual surgery tool which has the ability to break through even the densest concentration of less than light energies. It goes to an area that contains less than light energy and fills it with a very focused, concentrated beam of light which dissipates the denser energy. Fill this area with love by using symbol 3.

Uses for Symbol 3: heals the heart and all issues relating to the heart. It can also be used to fill in a healed area with love were negative energy or blocks have been removed. Can be used to heal relationships of all kinds. Use along with the Usui distant symbol to send the energy of the symbol to the relationship. If you want to develop a good habit, the best way to do this is to allow yourself to love what you want to do. If there is a habit you would like to create for yourself, write it on a piece of paper, put it between your hands and send the energy to it. Do this everyday, and also spend time doing the thing you want to develop a habit for. Heal addictions - life isn't fulfilling the love that they need. It will restore the balance within their heart so that they love life. Use Usui distant symbol to send the energy of the symbol to the addiction. It can be used to receive blessings from spiritual beings such as Mother Mary, Kuan Yin, and Avalokiteshvara who are the embodiment of compassionate action. Use the Usui distant symbol to send symbol 3 to these spiritual beings. Ask for their blessing so your heart will be healed and you will be better able to help others.

Uses for Symbol 4: :Grounding. It is excellent to use at the end of a session.Heals lower charkas helping a person be more fully present, alert and focused. By using the symbol on the clients feet, the feet charkas are opened and this will pull the person back into their body. This technique also pulls negative energy or blockages from anywhere in the person's energy system out the feet and can often release pain. Clear a room of negative energies.Harmonizes upper charkas with lower chakras. As the symbol clears the lower chakras, it allows the higher consciousness of the upper chakra to manifest in the physical world. It also helps us release fear of success and fear of failure. It empowers us to actualise our spiritual purpose here on Earth and to make use of Divine guidance in our everyday lives. Manifest Material Goals and creates determination and completion. It helps us take the first step toward our goal, and assists us in remaining focused throughout the entire process so we can complete the things we start. Archangel Michael for manifestation. :

Course information: Information on Karuna Reiki® will be taught, you will receive one attunement that will enable you to channel the energy of the four learned symbols for yourself and others. There will be plenty of practice in the course. We will also learn the "Shadow Self Meditation" using one specific symbol.

The Shadow Self Guided Meditation
Students activate specific healing symbol and place their hands on themselves during the meditation intending that Reiki will flow throughout the entire meditation.

We have all heard it said that we create our own reality, yet occasionally we have unwanted experiences - experiences that may be painful, and limiting in some way. Often, we don't know how we created these experiences, or what we can do to stop them. There is a feeling of being powerless over them and sometimes it feels like something or someone else outside ourselves is creating these negative experiences for us. When things like this happen, we are still creating our own reality, but we are cut off from the part of ourselves that is creating the unwanted experiences. We create our own reality not only with our conscious mind, but also with our subconscious mind. So, a more accurate statement about our creative powers might be, "The sum total of our being is the absolute master of our experience". This includes both those parts of ourself we are aware of and those parts we are not aware of. If we are to heal ourselves from creating unwanted experiences, then we must be willing to deal with the unconscious parts of our mind and heal them. The part of the mind responsible for creating our unwanted experiences is called the Shadow Self. The Shadow Self is created when we refuse to accept our feelings that have been labeled unacceptable. So often in society as we are growing up we are told "don't do that or don't be like that or don't say that" yet we are not told how to deal with these negative feelings in a healthy way and our only way of dealing with them is to deny them and shove them down inside ourselves. This process of denial does not cause those feelings to go away, rather, it forces them down inside ourselves where they continue to affect our behaviour and influence our experience.

Because we are unaware that they are there, we are powerless to change them and it feels like our lives are being controlled by someone or something outside ourselves.

So, how are we to get to know our Shadow Self. Our outer reality is a reflection of our inner reality. So if we have experiences we don't like or if there are people in our lives that we don't like, then it is important to first accept that there is a part of ourselves that is attracting this unwanted experience or person. It is this Shadow Self part that is doing this. We need to accept this part as part of ourselves and get to know it before we can be able to help it heal.

Once this part is healed, you will no longer attract the negative eperiences or they will no longer affect you in a negative way. You will be able to live your life in this area in a healthy, balanced way, free from many tension or stress and filled with positive feelings and experiences.

Zoe comments after the shadow self meditation:
This is a very powerful. Meeting the shadow self informed me of many old energy patterns that can now be cleared and also gave me big clarity over many issues: These go back to past life encounters of being persecuted and put to death time after time for expressing spiritual beliefs. By healing these lives I can make way for self worth and abundance in this life. It gave me much information about behaviour, it doesn't like toxic friends, too much drink, etc, and things it would like - dancing, supportive friends, nature, walks, etc. Very clear information. I could feel a huge shift during this meditation and the Reiki energy was very strong.


Karuna Reiki II practitioner

Another four new symbols are taught with the following uses:

Uses for Symbol 5: The energy heals the mind and links you more strongly with the Higher Self. It brings the Higher Self into the physical body. It therefore penetrates very deeply and lifts out emotional pain, often bringing an awareness of the true cause of the pain in a way that completes the healing. Improves learning ability, heals communication because of improved mental clarity, increases creativty. It works well with symbol 4 allowing the Higher Self to manifest our creativity on the physical plane.

Uses for Symbol 6: This double Cho Ku Rei is used for physical manifestation and for healing the human race. It is used for grounding, you can visualize each side of the symbol going down each leg. Place the upper part in your hips with the spirals in your feet. This will create a strong connection to the earth and bring your consciousness more fully into your body. This will also help guide your path through life in a very practical way.To manifests goals - write your goal on a piece of paper in the form of an affirmation. Then draw Kriya on the paper and hold it between your hands and do symbol 6 Reiki on it every day. At the same time, you must be working to create your goal. It is helpful if you feel stuck with many thoughts and have difficulty focusing on what you need to do. It can be used to heal all the people of Earth, helping them work together in harmony.

Uses for Symbol 7: Can help you to claim your power and to break free from others' expectations and projections and take back your power so you can create your life the way you want it to be.Heals co-dependence. The symbol helps you to break free from an unhealthy sense of responsibility you may have with those you are close to. Heals Reality Awareness. Empowers your Goals - it helps us act on our plans even if others are not happy with our decisions. It helps us connect with the joyous outcome of our goals which empowers us to achieve them.It is truly an Earth healing energy, and can help us connect with the consciousness of trees, flowers, crystals, clouds etc. Try the symbol on your house plants. It works well with symbol 3 to heal addictions.

Uses for Symbol 8: It brings peace and creates trust in life, helps heal the past, it brings peace into the now and helps free us from worry about the future.Heals insomnia. - releases fear and creates a gentle peaceful feeling. Also good for healing nightmares. Heals fear and panic - helpful in treating panic attacks or chronic fatique. This is because it helps calm fears and brings peace. It creates such a soothing state of being that we are able to focus more on the now, and do so in a peaceful way. Manifest the best results - when combined with symbol 3 it can bring harmony to the realization of one's goals making them seem effortless to achieve. Increases clairvoyance - Meditate with the point of symbol 8 going into the third eye. Maintain this single pointed focus and it will clear the brow chakra enhancing clairvoyance.

Chanting and Toning With Karuna Reiki
Our experience with Karuna Reiki® has taught us that toning or chanting during a Karuna Reiki® treatment creates profound shifts in the vibrational frequency of the healing energy. This idea is validated by the Mahayana Buddhist tradition the bodhisattva Avolokitesvhara who is said to create the "Sound that illumines the world".

When chanting and toing, we encourage you to do it out loud when appropriate. However, you can chant or tone telepathically as well. When chanting or toning in groups of three or more, it is important not to chant or tone for longer than 15 minutes together.

We define chanting as sounding the name of the symbol or the sound of a series of symbols with your Karuna Reiki® empowed voice so as to enhance the overall qualities of Karuna Reiki® while your hands are on or near the recipient's body. The energies will guide themselves going to the place they are needed.

We define toning as sounding the name of the symbol with your Karuna Reiki® empowered voice while your hands are a few inches to a few feet from the client beaming Karuna Reikiâ into a specific area in need of healing. The purpose is to direct the energy directly into a block or area in need of healing.

Course Information: After the attunement, there will be plenty of practice with the learned symbols.

Karuna Reiki® Master's Degree
One-day Course
(if practitioner I and II has previously been completed)

Having already leaned Karuna Reiki I and II and having actively used the symbols on yourself and/or others, you may wish to go on to the Master's teaching degree.

You will receive attunements and I will show you how to attune people to all the three levels, you will have plenty of time to practice the attunement processes. In the Master's Course you will learn three more symbols and you will need to use the eight already learned symbols in the attunement processes that are being taught.

Cost for the one-day course is £ 380 (manual and certificate included, the certificate will be sent to you by the International Center for Reiki, USA).

As an Usui Reiki Master you also have the option to learn Karuna Reiki® I practitioner, Karuna Reiki® II practitioner and Karuna Reiki® Masters in three consecutive days. I generally would advise you to have a break between every degree as there is a lot of information and energy work to assimilate and process. Cost for the three-day course is £ 550 pounds.

Zoe comments after day 3 oft Masters course:
As ever, Sandra's teaching is incredibly precise and clear and I felt fully confident every step of the way that I had understood the information being presented and could put it into practice.

Attunement process: Sandra made this very clear to understand and has made some very helpful notes and prompt cards to assist the learning process.

New master symbols (taught the Karuna way): Again, I could feel teh power of each one as it was introduced and presenceof many guides, angels and ascended masters pouring their loving and wise energy into my aura. Felt very protected and loved. In the meditation giving intention for the course, could feel pure white loving light pouring through my chakras and once again, the Buddha of Compassion inside me.

Chanting and Toning (taught on the 3rd day in the Masters class): I could feel the extra power manifesting when using symbols in this way, especially when eliminating my mind's interference. Sandra was very clear in guding me how to allow Spirit to direct this.
In the healing session when I was the healer lots of stuff came up to be shifted - some of it very painful and distrubing in nature but, as before, Ifelt completely loved andproteced by the Karuna energy. Strangely, I felt rocked in a double (3d) infinity symbol throughout the process.
Can feel my intuition becoming stronger every day as I practice this new Reiki energy and am beginning to sense blockages in myself and others more clearly and quickly.
